Devise a method

Our goal is to mathematically model what we expect the population growth in Wake County to be for the next 20 years. What do we need to do to accomplish this task? Make a list of steps that will help us achieve our goal:

Sample Method:

  1. Make a conjecture

  2. Gather data: Find population data from the recent past.

  3. Represent data: Create a table or chart of population data.

  4. Develop a model: Use the data to estimate the rate of population growth in Wake County.

  5. Represent the model: Create a model for your estimated growth rate, using tables and graphs.

  6. Interpret the model: Compare the predictions based on your model with those generated by the Wake County Planning Department. What might explain any differences between your model and the WCPD's predictions?
